Hungry? Then get yourself to wine country. There are always good eats to be had at the Okanagan’s winery and other restaurants, but this summer the region is also seeing a buffet of exciting chef collabs and winemaker dinners galore.
Leading the charge is chef Chris Van Hooydonk, who’s gathering some of his favourite chef pals and winery partners for collabs both at his Backyard Farm Chef’s Table and other sites as part of his “speakeasy series.” He’s planning to do some “kitchen duelling” with chefs Jeff Van Geest, Brock Bowes, Bernard Casavant, Jim Armstrong and Mark Filatow, and has a packed lineup of dates planned including off-site dinners at Le Vieux Pin on June 13, French Door on July 12 and Painted Rock on August 29. backyard-farm.ca
Just up the road, Maverick Estate Winery is holding a series of “short-table” dinners as part of their intimate dinner series (May 24, June 22, July 18, August 16, September 20). maverickwine.ca
Aa part of its long-table series, Miradoro Restaurant is hosting a number of winery dinners including Canter Cellars on April 29, Blue Mountain on May 20 and Aussie Day with Bartier Bros. on May 27. miradoro.ca
Lakeboat Vineyard & Winery is welcoming chef and sommelier Van Doren Chan for a series of dinners featuring Chinese dumplings and other dim sum bites in their Kaleden cherry orchard (July 4 and 18, August 15 and 29). And you won’t want to miss their harvest wrap party featuring a taste of Argentinian asado on August 31. lakeboatwinery.com
Plus there’s the Mothers’ Day tea at Mission Hill on May 11, and dozens of other delicious events all summer long. Check with your favourite winery, restaurant or the events page at winebc.com.
