The Vancouver wine community celebrated one of its greatest ambassadors on Friday when DJ Kearney was named Spirited Industry Professional at the 41st annual Vancouver International Wine Festival.
Kearney, a writer, educator, critic and mentor is the 16th winner of the award which has recognized some of the biggest names in the BC wine industry, from sommeliers to winemakers.
The festival, in conjunction with the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers, also awarded Sommelier of the Year to Matthew Landry of The Stable House Bistro.
VIWF recognized the top wine programs in the province (and some in Alberta), including seven platinum winners in Metro Vancouver. For all the winners and information about the festival, visit VanWineFest.ca.
